GALVESTON, TX – Sept. 29, 2025 —“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” — John C. Maxwell.

For more than three decades, Leadership Galveston has inspired professionals to grow as leaders while deepening their connection to the community. Now, the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce is reimagining the program with the launch of the Leadership Galveston County Institute, a revitalized, eleven-month-long experience beginning with a mixer on Nov. 13, 2025, with monthly sessions starting on Jan. 30, 2026, and graduation on Nov. 11, 2026.

Building on Leadership Galveston’s legacy of “behind-the-scenes” access, the new countywide institute expands the curriculum to provide a more comprehensive professional development journey. Participants will strengthen leadership competencies through classroom instruction, hands-on experiences, and exclusive site visits to influential businesses, institutions, and government entities across Galveston County.

“We felt it was time to evolve Leadership Galveston into a more intensive and impactful program,” said Gina M. Spagnola, President & CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. “This eleven-month-long institute not only allows participants to engage more deeply with the community but also provides the time and tools for meaningful professional growth.”

Program highlights include:

  • Exclusive tours of Galveston County institutions with presentations from key community leaders.
  • Insights into personal strengths and strategies for leading authentically.
  • Best practices for effectively leading teams and organizations.
  • Skill development in communication, collaboration, strategic thinking, and ethical leadership.
  • Civic leadership training on board service, public office, and community development.
  • Building a strong network of professionals committed to driving positive change.

Mae Francis, president of Lookin’ Up Consulting, brings extensive expertise in leadership and organizational development and is the facilitator of the program.

“Whether you’re an emerging leader or a seasoned professional, this institute is designed to equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and connections needed to lead with purpose,” said Francis.
