GALVESTON, TX – Nov 18, 2024 – The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrates nearly two centuries of service and tradition with a landmark event that unites Texas music and community spirit. As the oldest chamber of commerce in Texas, the Chamber will honor its 180-year legacy with an exciting event blending Texas tradition and community spirit—the 2nd Annual Galveston Island Country Music Fest on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Galveston Island Convention Center.
A Night of Texas Talent and Community Pride
This year’s event highlights the Chamber’s commitment to the region through an unforgettable night of Texas country music featuring Drake Milligan and The Powell Brothers. Both acts will celebrate the Chamber’s role in shaping Galveston’s business and cultural legacy, with performances that showcase the very best of Texas’s musical tradition.
Headliner: Drake Milligan
Headlining the celebration is Fort Worth’s own Drake Milligan, whose style draws comparisons to country legends like George Strait and Elvis Presley. With over 150 million global streams, Milligan’s hit “Honky Tonkin’ About” has taken Canadian Country Radio by storm, and his holiday single, “Cowgirl for Christmas,” has garnered millions of views. His live performances—from the Grand Ole Opry to Billy Bob’s Texas—are known for their authenticity, and his set promises to be a powerful highlight of the night.
Opening Act: The Powell Brothers
Houston natives Taylor and Blake Powell will bring their signature blend of country and southern rock, promising an energetic start to the evening. Known for captivating performances at venues like the State Fair of Texas and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, The Powell Brothers will deliver a soulful set from their upcoming album, Love & Loss. “Our goal is to make every show better than the last,” says Taylor Powell, reflecting on their commitment to quality and their gratitude for fan support.
Celebrating the Chamber’s Legacy and Future
Reflecting on 180 years of service to the Galveston region, Chamber Chair Keith Bassett notes, “This event is a testament to Galveston’s strong, resilient spirit, and our commitment to building a brighter future for our community.” Chamber President and CEO Gina M. Spagnola adds, “We’re honored to celebrate this milestone with an event that captures the heart of our region and brings together business, culture, and community.”
