The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce announces its endorsement of candidates for the 2024 Mayoral/City Council Election. This endorsement comes after a rigorous evaluation process, highlighting the Chamber’s commitment to championing leaders dedicated to Galveston Island’s economic and community growth.

The candidates receiving endorsements are:

  • For Mayor: Dr. Craig Brown
  • District 1 Representative: Sharon Lewis
  • District 2 Representative: Luke Bohlman
  • District 3 Representative: Jeff Ehrich
  • District 4 Representative: Alexander Porretto
  • District 5 Representative: Beau J. Rawlins
  • District 6 Representative: Marie Robb

The board evaluated candidates for the upcoming election through comprehensive interviews conducted on March 25, 2024. These interviews provided valuable insights into each candidate’s vision for Galveston’s future and their commitment to serving the business community.

Endorsed candidates were selected based on their demonstrated support for local businesses and community initiatives, as well as their past and current involvement with the Chamber. Additionally, their advocacy for crucial Port and Park Board initiatives, commitment to collaborating with the Chamber to promote economic growth, and consistency between their campaign promises and actions were key factors in the selection process.

The slate of endorsed candidates was unanimously approved by the Chamber’s Board of Directors, reflecting their collective confidence in the selected candidates’ ability to lead Galveston toward a vibrant and prosperous future.
