This time of year, the Texas sun is relentless, but so are Texans. And while the coastal temperatures are certainly rising, so is the momentum of our local business community as we reach the mid-year mark.
It’s remarkable to reflect on the first six months of the year. From Lemonade Day and Meet the Candidate events to our Lunch & Learn series, Leadership Galveston County Institute, annual Golf Tournament, ribbon cuttings, and countless networking events, it’s been a full and productive season. Our calendar stays busy for a reason—because connection, education, and advocacy are at the heart of what we do.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep that energy going. Here’s a snapshot of what’s on the horizon:
- Sixth Annual Shoot for the Chamber – July 31
- 19th Annual Galveston Women’s Conference – September 11
- Coastal Legislative Tour –October 1-4
- Third Annual Health & Wellness Luncheon and Expo – October 23
Alongside these signature events, we’ll continue hosting the monthly programs and networking opportunities our members rely on.
No matter the event or initiative, our focus remains the same: supporting business growth and strengthening our community. The Chamber serves as a connector—bringing members together in meaningful ways. Especially during hurricane season, those connections matter even more. Whether it’s finding a company that supplies sandbags, sourcing materials for a project, or connecting with trusted professionals—from bankers and insurance agents to realtors and creatives—our membership network is a powerful resource.
We also encourage members to take full advantage of opportunities to grow professionally and personally, whether by introducing themselves at networking events, sharpening skills through Lunch & Learns, or building confidence in our Toastmasters Club and C-Crewe for young professionals.
Advocacy remains a key part of our mission as well. Our upcoming Coastal Legislative Tour gives us the opportunity to showcase Galveston County to elected officials, highlight our strengths, and share the needs of our business community. These efforts are made possible through the support of our partners, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers.
Closer to home, we were proud to provide a platform for voters to hear directly from candidates for mayor and city council. As new leaders step into their roles, we remain committed to working alongside them to keep our region business-friendly and thriving.
If you’d like to learn more about the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce—Texas’ longest-running chamber—we invite you to attend an event or connect with our membership team. We also invite you to tune in to our video series, Leading Galveston Forward, where I interview top Galveston County leaders. This series is produced through a partnership with the Galveston Independent School District.
The Chamber is more than mixers. We are a catalyst for economic growth, education, and advocacy.
As we move through the busy summer season, I encourage you to support local businesses, extend a warm welcome to visitors, and reserve your spot for upcoming events like the Galveston Women’s Conference.
We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to a strong finish to the year.
