As we kick off the 181st year of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, I can’t help but feel grateful for the positive momentum across our community. It’s an honor to lead an organization that has stood beside Galveston businesses for nearly two centuries. Our mission—to promote and advocate for business and community development—continues to guide everything we do.

We’re starting the year on a high note with our 181st Annual Meeting, held alongside the Third Annual Galveston Island Country Music Fest. This is always one of my favorite traditions—a chance to celebrate the people and businesses whose hard work keeps our region strong.

You’ll see plenty of opportunities this year to connect, learn, and get involved. On April 9, we’re hosting The Debate – Galveston Mayoral Luncheon, giving our community a chance to hear directly from the candidates shaping Galveston’s future. Then on June 18, our State of Business: Galveston Advantage Luncheon will provide valuable insights into the economic trends impacting local businesses. Finally, we’re hosting our Third Annual State of Healthcare and Wellness Luncheon on October 23.

We’re continuing our popular Bites of Business: Lunch & Learn Series, with support from our presenting partner, Texas First Bank. And leading into the Galveston Women’s Conference, we’re excited to launch our new Mind, Body, Spirit EmpowHER Series through a partnership with UTMB. These luncheons are open to both members and prospective members, and they’re a great way to meet fellow business and community leaders.

Looking for an excuse to enjoy some sunshine? The 37th Annual Galveston Chamber Golf Tournament returns May 18 at Moody Gardens Golf Course. And if you’re more at home with a shotgun, our 6th Annual Shoot for the Chamber Clay Shoot is set for July 31 at Providence Plantation.

Mark your calendar for September 11 for the 19th Annual Galveston Women’s Conference, and get ready for a day of inspiration, wellness, and one of the most loved markets on the Gulf Coast. We have plans to make the VIP Preview even bigger this year.

Advocacy remains a key part of our work. This October, we’ll host our biennial Legislative Tour, showcasing Galveston County’s impact on our state and nation.

Leadership development also continues to be a top priority. This year, we expanded our traditional Leadership Galveston program into the Leadership Galveston County Institute, an 11‑month experience featuring professional development and behind‑the‑scenes tours. For the first time, the class will also travel to Austin for civic leadership training. With more than 50 participants, this year’s group is one of our strongest yet.

I’m also thrilled to share the launch of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters Club, meeting monthly at the Chamber office and open to all members interested in building confidence as communicators.

If you’re curious about the Chamber or want to get involved, we’d love to welcome you. Reach out, stop by, or join us at one of our many events. There’s a place for you here.
